On Saturday, Aug. 19, Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre (D-Babylon) brought the community together for a day of fitness and fun at her annual Sweaty Summer Saturday event. The activities took place at Herman Griem Park in Wheatley Heights, offering free fitness classes, including yoga, boxing and a boot camp.
Physical activity is a key to healthy living. This event encourages families to get outside and get some exercise during the summer, Jean-Pierre said. An active and healthy lifestyle isnt just good for our bodies its good for our spirits!
This years event marks the second annual Sweaty Summer Saturday, a tradition Jean-Pierre has remained committed to since entering the Assembly. Exercise has been shown to reduce stress hormone levels and produce physical as well as mental health benefits, Jean-Pierre said.
