Jean-Pierre’s 3rd Annual ‘Hoops for Hunger’ to be Held this Saturday

On Saturday, July 28th, New York State Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre (D-Lindenhurst) will be holding her third annual Hoops for Hunger basketball tournament at Lindenhurst Senior High School. ‘Hoops for Hunger’ is a 3-on-3 basketball tournament where teams have the opportunity to face off against local firefighters, police officers, first responders and community leaders. Participants are asked to bring one canned food item, which will be donated to the food pantry administered by the United Veterans Beacon House.

“Too many families have to suffer the effects of hunger, and events like this are a great way to foster a sense of community and bring everyone together for a good cause,” said Jean-Pierre. “I’d like to thank all of this year’s participants, sponsors, and Lindenhurst School District for supporting this important initiative.”

Limited spots for basketball teams are still available; those interested in registering should email lewisl@nyassembly.gov. Sign-in will begin at 10AM with opening ceremonies starting promptly at 11AM. Community members are encouraged to come spectate and bring a canned food item as well. For more information, please call the office of Assemblywoman Jean-Pierre at 631-957-2087.

Lindenhurst Senior High School is located at 300 Charles Street in Lindenhurst, NY.
