Assemblywoman Jean-Pierre: Legislation Supports New Yorkers with Disabilities

“On Legislative Disabilities Awareness Day, I helped passed a series of bills strengthening the rights of New Yorkers with disabilities, from helping them grain financial stability so they can live their lives independently to giving them recourse when faced with discrimination. Far too often, these individuals are judged by their disability, but that should never be the case. People with disabilities deserve to be treated with fairness and respect and given the same opportunities as everyone else.

“A disability shouldn’t stand in the way of someone continuing to live in their own home or expand their education. That’s why I’ll continue to fight to ensure all New Yorkers have every opportunity to reach their goals.”
