Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre (D-Wheatley Heights) recently presented the East Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Company with a $125,000 New York State capital grant that she was able to secure from the Fiscal Year 2018-19 Budget. The funds from this grant will allow the department to purchase filter systems that will remove and reduce carcinogens from vehicle exhaust in the firehouse.

“Our volunteer firefighters are the bedrock of our communities, and their safety and well-being should always be our top priority,” said Jean-Pierre. “I’m so happy that this grant will be used for new exhaust systems so that the air that our firefighters breathe in is cleaner and safer.”
