Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal’s Statement on the 40th Anniversary of Roe V. Wade
New York, NY - "Roe v. Wade marked the beginning of the fight to guarantee women's access to abortion and reproductive health care, not the end,” said Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal (D/WF-Manhattan). “Every day since the U.S. Supreme Court handed down that historic decision, the right wing has attempted to chip away at this constitutionally protected right. While we should be celebrating the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we must instead take this opportunity to strengthen our resolve to block all attempts across this nation to reduce women's access to abortion and reproductive health care. And we in New York State, which legalized abortion before Roe v. Wade was decided, must ensure that our laws reflect that decision and the progressive values of reproductive choice by passing the Reproductive Health Act now."
