Slater Honors Local Heroes at Veterans Hall of Fame Event
Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) proudly hosted a Veterans Hall of Fame ceremony to honor veterans from each town within his district. This special event aimed to recognize and celebrate the bravery, dedication, and selfless service of local heroes who have not only protected our nation but also continue to uplift and support their communities.
Slater’s Veterans Hall of Fame event highlighted the diverse stories of veterans from across the district, showcasing the courage, resilience, and commitment these individuals have shown both in uniform and in their civilian lives. Through this ceremony, Slater underscored the importance of honoring our veterans' sacrifices and to inspire future generations with their enduring legacies.
“It is a privilege to recognize these extraordinary men and women who have given so much for our country and our communities,” said Slater. “Their service and sacrifice are the foundation of our freedom, and it is our duty to ensure their stories live on, inspiring young people to continue their legacy of resilience and patriotism.”
This Veterans Hall of Fame ceremony reflects Slater’s deep commitment to advocating for veterans and ensuring they receive the recognition and support they deserve. Through this annual event, Slater hopes to foster a greater appreciation within the community for those who have answered the call to serve, keeping their memories alive for generations to come.
“The Town of Putnam Valley would like to thank Assemblyman Matt Slater for continuing the tradition of honoring our Hometown Heroes. These men and women didn’t join the armed forces seeking recognition; they served selflessly to protect our country. It is our privilege to give them the recognition they so deserve. Putnam Valley is proud to have nominated James (JD) Apostolico for his years of service to our nation, town, and community. Thank you, JD!” said Jacqueline Annabi, Putnam Valley Town Supervisor.
“I am very appreciative of Assemblyman Slater for giving us the opportunity to nominate a veteran to the Hall of Fame. His commitment to our military and our community is commendable. Recognizing veterans for their accomplishments and giving them a chance to pass on their stories made for an outstanding morning,” said Ed Lachterman, Yorktown Town Supervisor.
“Thank you, Matt Slater, for your service in the Navy and your dedication to veterans. It’s crucial for people to understand what these men and women did for our country. I hope younger veterans fill the shoes of our older veterans so no one forgets. I still get choked up every time I hear our national anthem because of these sacred souls,” said Nick Durante, Southeast Town Supervisor.
