Last week, Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) was elected chairman of the Assembly Minority Policy Committee (ARPC) by the New York State Assembly Minority Conference. As ARPC chairman, Assemblyman Slater will lead efforts to establish and advance key policy positions for the conference.

The committee focuses on developing and approving legislative priorities that address critical issues facing New Yorkers. For 2025, these priorities include addressing New York’s affordability crisis, enhancing public safety and creating new opportunities for all New Yorkers.

“The Assembly Minority Conference has a long history of proposing common sense solutions to New York’s challenges. I’m honored to take on this leadership role and help craft policies that reflect the needs and values of New Yorkers all across the state,” said Slater. “Thank you to my colleagues for entrusting me with this responsibility—I know we will continue to be the voice of reason and offer policies that will transform our state government into one that delivers for everyone.”
