Simpson Joins ‘Local Roads Are Essential’ Press Conference Advocating For More Funds Toward Critical Infrastructure
Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C,I-Horicon) joined his legislative colleagues, local elected officials, highway superintendents and industry leaders at a Tuesday morning press conference advocating for more funding in the governor’s budget toward roads, bridges and culverts.
“Today we heard from those who are on the front lines keeping our roads safe and drivable. Gov. Hochul publicly stated her desire to keep up on infrastructure projects. We must keep the pressure on for increased funding in CHIPS.
“Roads, bridges and culverts are the very heartbeat of our state’s economy. Without them, commerce would come to a screeching halt taking the already-struggling economy down with it. We must keep the pressure on and advocate for increases in the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program. Thank you to the men and women of our highway departments for the admirable job they do on a daily basis keeping us safe, it is due time we increase their funding,” said Simpson.
