Simpson Nominates Two Businesses to New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry
Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C,I-Horicon) announced two local businesses from the 114th District have been added to the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry. Simpson successfully nominated The Queensbury Hotel and Telescope Casual Furniture, both of which are staples of Warren and Washington Counties in his district. The New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry recognizes businesses that have been in operation for 50 years or more. The program provides educational and promotional assistance to help ensure their continued success with eligibility for tax credits as well as state and federal historic rehabilitation tax credits.
The Queensbury Hotel, located in the heart of downtown Glens Falls, is currently in the process of expanding its ballroom, the latest renovation of its long 90 years in business. Ed Moore purchased the hotel in 2016 after several previous owners and plans to continue updating guest rooms and the event spaces in order to accommodate higher demand. Telescope Casual Furniture has been in business since 1903 and an asset to Granville since 1921. The family-owned business continues to grow and provide its customers with fast-paced service and quality products to maintain its reputation in the upstate area.
“I am pleased to announce The Queensbury Hotel and Telescope Casual Furniture has been added to the Historic Business Preservation Registry and can both continue to thrive for years to come,” said Simpson. “Local businesses such as these two are what shape our communities. As a lifelong resident of the area, I know just how often many of our local high school proms and weddings are held at the hotel and how successful Telescope’s family business is after so many years. I am honored to nominate these exceptional businesses and hope I can help continue their legacy in the community I call home.”
