Where is the Money Going? Simpson Joins Call for Clarity on $1 Billion Migrant Funds

Bill # A.7508 Would Require State Comptroller to Audit Humanitarian Funds.

“One billion in taxpayer dollars came out of this year’s state budget to alleviate New York City’s migrant crisis, yet there has been little-to-no direction or oversight as to where these dollars are actually going,” said Simpson. “Given Albany’s spending problem, inflation and an affordability crisis, it is no wonder New York leads the nation in outmigration. The lack of accountability for this $1 billion is disrespectful to the hardworking taxpayers of the state. I join my colleagues in calling for oversight for humanitarian aid for migrants and an audit of those funds.”
