Albany – Assemblymember Michael Cusick, D-Staten Island, welcomed dozens of Boy Scouts from across New York State to Albany today for their annual lobby day and an early celebration of Founder’s Day.

“From my own experience as a Boy Scout, I know this organization teaches indispensable lessons about leadership, integrity, and civil engagement,” Cusick said.

For the first time, young women joined the delegation in Albany after the Boy Scouts opened their membership to girls and boys.

“These young men and women are not only our future leaders, they’re leading now,” Cusick said.

Cusick also sponsored a resolution commemorating Founders Day on February 22nd. Founders day honors the birthday of Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting. Senator Diane Savino, D-Staten Island, sponsored the resolution in the Senate.
