Assemblyman Durso Joins 100th Birthday Celebration at the Bristal Massapequa
Assemblyman Michael Durso (R-Massapequa Park) recently attended the 100th birthday celebration of Gunveig Grannas on September 21, 2025 at The Bristal Assisted Living in Massapequa. The Assemblyman joined Gunveig’s family, friends, alongside Bristal staff members in recognizing her incredible milestone and reflecting on her extraordinary century of life.
Gunveig was born in Helsinki, Finland. As a newlywed in 1950, she embarked on what was intended to be a six-month stay in the United States which blossomed into a lifelong adventure filled with love and new beginnings.
Alongside her devoted husband, she settled in Elmhurst, Queens, before establishing their cherished family home in Seaford, Long Island in 1960. Gunveig nurtured a loving household as the proud mother of two children, a loving grandmother of three grandchildren, and the joyful great-grandmother of three great-grandchildren.
“It was an honor to be a part of Gunveig’s 100th birthday celebration,” said Assemblyman Durso. “On behalf of myself and the residents of the 9th Assembly district, we wish her continued love and happiness as she celebrates this beautiful milestone and a life well lived.”
