Assembly Member Michael DenDekker Helps Constituents Guard Against Identity Theft with Paper Shredding Event

March 25, 2019

Windy conditions and unseasonably cold weather didn’t stop Assembly Member Michael DenDekker (D-Jackson Heights) from helping constituents safely dispose of their paper documents on Saturday.

Over 160 people shrugged off the wind to come to the Jackson Heights Shopping Center to drop off their paperwork to be shredded. A shredding truck was present to immediately destroy all documents that were dropped off. If constituents even wanted, they could view (via camera) their documents being shredded in real time. Additionally, 95% of all the shredded paper is recycled.

Assembly Member DenDekker appreciates the importance of data security and protecting oneself from identity theft. “Today, people are under constant threat of their identities getting compromised by scammers. You really can never be too careful with your personal information. That’s why my office is happy to provide shredding services to folks who do not have their own shredder.”
