Assembly Member Michael DenDekker (D-Jackson Heights) is announcing that there will be an “Aware in Care” Parkinson’s Disease town hall on Saturday, May 4th, from 2 PM to 3 PM at the Renaissance Charter School (35-59 81st Street, Jackson Heights, NY 11372).

The event, which will be run by the Parkinson’s Foundation, is intended to raise awareness about insufficient medical care provided to Parkinson’s Disease patients. “Three in four people with Parkinson’s Disease in the hospital do not get their medication in a timely fashion,” said event organizer Marta Kowalska. All event attendees will receive an “Aware in Care” kit, which will provide those who have Parkinson’s Disease tools and information they can share with medical staff during a hospital visit.

“By next year, nearly 1 million Americans will be living with Parkinson’s Disease,” stated Assembly Member DenDekker. “We must spread awareness about this debilitating illness so that people can be educated on proper treatment for Parkinson’s Disease.
