Assembly Member Michael DenDekker Announces Parkinsons Disease Awareness Event
Assembly Member Michael DenDekker (D-Jackson Heights) is announcing that there will be an Aware in Care Parkinsons Disease town hall on Saturday, May 4th, from 2 PM to 3 PM at the Renaissance Charter School (35-59 81st Street, Jackson Heights, NY 11372).
The event, which will be run by the Parkinsons Foundation, is intended to raise awareness about insufficient medical care provided to Parkinsons Disease patients. Three in four people with Parkinsons Disease in the hospital do not get their medication in a timely fashion, said event organizer Marta Kowalska. All event attendees will receive an Aware in Care kit, which will provide those who have Parkinsons Disease tools and information they can share with medical staff during a hospital visit.
By next year, nearly 1 million Americans will be living with Parkinsons Disease, stated Assembly Member DenDekker. We must spread awareness about this debilitating illness so that people can be educated on proper treatment for Parkinsons Disease.
