Fitzpatrick Statement on Park Closures
February 18, 2010
In response to the announcement that several state parks on Long Island may face closure due to the state fiscal crisis, Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick (R,C,I-Smithtown) said that state parkland is a fundamental service that should be spared the deeper cuts reserved for other areas.
“Our parks become viable alternatives for people to enjoy themselves in tough economic times. We must do everything we can to try to keep them open."
