Norris Announces 2019 Committee Appointments

Assemblyman Mike Norris (R,I,C,Ref-Lockport) is proud to announce that Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C-Canandaigua) has appointed him to serve as a member of the Assembly Ways and Means Committee, the committee that oversees the state’s budget process as well as any legislation with a fiscal impact to New Yorkers. Additionally, Norris will continue to serve as the Minority Conference’s lead on the Assembly Election Law Committee and as a member of the Judiciary, Tourism, and Transportation committees.

“I am very proud that my record of standing up against bloated state budgets and wasteful spending has helped me earn an appointment to the important Ways and Means Committee for my second term. Like my friends and neighbors in Western New York, I believe that Albany is taxing too much, spending too much and not placing proper emphasis on critical priorities like infrastructure, and I will fight hard within the committee to ensure that our message of fiscal responsibility is heard,” said Norris.

“I am also proud to be continuing my work as the Ranking Minority Member of the Election Law Committee, especially as we face a much more progressive agenda from downstate and New York City interests. While I do believe very strongly that every citizen should participate in our electoral process, I want to make sure that voting and ballot access remains a sacred process which prevents any opportunities for fraud and irregularities,” added Norris, a former Niagara County Election Commissioner.

Norris continued, “My work on the Tourism and Transportation committees will also be very important to our district as we continue working together with our partners in local government and not-for-profits to protect our historic sites, preserve our heritage and to keep our roads, bridges and infrastructure safe for generations to come.”
