Tannousis Introduces His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America to The Assembly Chamber

Today, Assemblyman Michael Tannousis (R,C-Staten Island/Brooklyn) introduced His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros (Lambriniadis) of America to the Assembly chamber in honor of Greek Independence Day and the fifty-first anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, displacing thousands of Cypriots from their homes. Each year, March 25 is the celebration of Greece achieving independence from the Turkish Ottoman Empire after 400 years

In an official Assembly proclamation, Tannousis recognized Maria Vasaka-Monioudis for her dedication to Greek-American traditions and her contributions to the Greek-American community in honor of Greek Independence Day. Vasaka-Monioudis is a globally experienced, values-driven health care business leader who has dedicated over 28 years to Pfizer Inc., where she currently serves as Medical Operations Excellence Lead for the U.S. and Global Dermatology franchise within Specialty Care in the Research & Development Division. Vasaka-Monioudis is a Greek-American from the island of Chios, born and raised in Jamaica Estates, Queens.

Vasaka-Monioudis unwavering dedication to community service extends to her leadership on the School Board of the Demetrios & Georgia Kaloidis Parochial School, her role as President of the Holy Cross Church Parish Council, and her efforts in co-founding the Holy Cross Brooklyn Outreach Center (HCBOC), a charity that has provided over 140,000 meals to those in need through programs such as the Homeless Midnight Runs and Outreach on the Go.
