IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program assists underserved groups with free tax preparation services provided by dedicated volunteers
Valley Stream, NY – With Tax Day around the corner, Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages partnered with Bethpage Federal Credit Union this past Saturday, April 6th, for her annual VITA tax preparation event at her district office in Valley Stream. Twenty-six taxpayers were helped with free income tax preparation services provided by certified VITA volunteers.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is run by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to give those on low to moderate incomes, seniors, persons with disabilities, and limited English speakers access to free tax preparation events in their local communities.
“Tax season can be an incredibly stressful time for so many of us,” said Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages. “This annual event gives constituents access to qualified tax preparation volunteers who get their taxes done free of charge. The VITA program is an invaluable help to our community, and I thank today’s volunteers and Bethpage Federal Credit Union for offering their services.”
