January Public Hearings on Belmont Park Redevelopment

I want to ensure that we are consistently sharing updated information regarding the redevelopment at Belmont Park. For timely updates, please sign up for our e-Newsletter. Please note that Empire State Development completed the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) of the proposed redevelopment of approximately 43 acres of land located within Belmont Park. We encourage you and all your neighbors to submit public comments on this very important project. The deadline to submit public comment is no later than on Monday, February 1, 2018.

Notice of Completion and Public Hearing: Belmont Park Redevelopment Civic and Land Use Improvement Project Draft Environmental Impact Statement


Empire State Development (ESD) will host three days of Public Hearings that will address the DEIS pursuant to SEQRA and other relevant statutes commencing on: 

Tuesday, January 8th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Wednesday, January 9th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and 6:30 until 8:30 pm,
Thursday, January 10th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Location: Elmont Memorial Library, 700 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont NY, 11003
 

The DEIS is available on ESD’s website at https://esd.ny.gov/belmont-park-redevelopment-project. A copy of the DEIS will also be available at the Public Hearings. In addition, the DEIS is available for review at the Elmont Memorial Library at 700 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont NY, 11003 and the Floral Park Public Library at 17 Caroline Place, Floral Park, NY 11001.   

Comments on the DEIS may be made orally or submitted in writing at the Public Hearings or submitted in writing directly to the lead agency. Comments must be received no later than 5:00 pm on February 11, 2019.  Written comments may be submitted by email to belmontoutreach@esd.ny.gov, or by mail to the attention of Michael Avolio, ESD, 633 Third Avenue, 37th floor, New York, NY 10017. Written comments, whether received at the Public Hearings or submitted directly to the lead agency, will be afforded the same weight as oral testimony, and those wishing to submit lengthy or complex testimony are urged to do so in writing.
