Valley Stream, NY – Today, Assemblymember Michaelle Solages, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, State Senator Todd Kaminsky, and Nassau Legislator Carrie Solages joined the Masjid Hamza (Islamic Center of South Shore) to support their efforts to vaccinate their congregation in time for the holy period of Ramadan, which is a holy month of fasting, introspection, and prayer for followers of the Islamic faith.

Assemblymember Solages’ office reached out to the Masjid Hamza to collaborate on securing a viable location in Valley Stream and worked closely with the Masjid to schedule and confirm appointments for over 200 community members.

“With Ramadan fast approaching, this was an opportune time to bring a state vaccination pop-up site to the vicinity to ensure that all the necessary precautions are being taken in anticipation of prayer gatherings and celebrations due to this important holiday,” stated Assemblymember Michaelle C. Solages. “We see that vaccine dis-information is on the rise, and these types of pop-up initiatives are an effective method of raising awareness about the vaccine in marginalized communities. It was a pleasure working with the leaders of the Masjid Hamza to facilitate this vacation event and I look forward to holding another one in the near future.”
