Malliotakis Celebrates Greek Independence Day At S.I.’S Holy Trinity Church

Yesterday, Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R,C,I-Brooklyn, Staten Island) presented Assembly citations to Mr. Stacey Anastos and Mrs. Angela Papageorge Tamborra, in recognition of their service to Staten Island’s Greek-American community, during her annual Greek Independence Day celebration at Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Staten Island.

Mr. Stacey Anastos, of Castleton Corners, has spent many years on the Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox parish council including a term as president. He also serves as the church’s chantor every Sunday and was a major force in the renovation and beautification of the church for the Consecration. Stacey is a master craftsman and carpenter, and has assisted on all projects and enhancements in the borough’s Greek-American community center. He also has served as chairman of the famous Staten Island Greek Festival for countless years, and is a recipient of the St. Paul’s Medal of Honor. Stacey and his wife, Cloy, have three daughters, Pauline, Chrystala, and Tina, and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Angela Papageorge Tamborra, of Annadale, has been a member of the Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church parish council for over six years, including four years as president, and was instrumental in achieving the long sought certificate of occupancy for the community center. She has been involved with youth organizations such as the Parent-Teacher Organization, the Greek Orthodox Youth of America (GOYA), and volunteers for the GOYA Annual Olympics for children. She is also a Sunday school teacher and an active member of the Staten Island Greek Festival. Angela is actively engaged in every aspect of fundraising and maintenance endeavors at the church, and has been an artistic force in the creation of journals and church publications. Angela is married to Nick Tamborra, and they have three sons, Nicholas, Steven, and Michael.
