Malliotakis, NYPD Bring K9 Unit to Holy Angels Academy

Assemblywoman Malliotakis and PO Matt Wicelinski introduce Dallas to students at Holy Angels.

BAY RIDGE – Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R,C,I-Bay Ridge) was joined today by PO Matt Wicelinski and Officer Dallas at Holy Angels Catholic Academy. Students from the school’s 1st-through-5th grades were given a demonstration on how the K-9 Unit operates, and learned about the role the K-9 Unit plays in helping our police officers keep our city safe and how the dogs are trained. “The bond between Officer Wicelinski and Dallas is truly remarkable, and it’s so important for the students to gain an appreciation for work. In today’s day and age the police department requires every tool at their disposal to get the job done, and the dogs of the K-9 Unit are among their most valuable,” said Assemblywoman Malliotakis. “We have done a few of these presentations in schools across my district. I believe it’s important to teach our young people at an early age to respect our police officers and be kind to animals. This demonstration achieves both.”
