Malliotakis Says Brooklyn MTA Hearing Date Insensitive

November 29, 2018

“Brooklyn is home to one of the largest Jewish communities in the country, and yet the MTA decided to schedule the borough’s hearing on the last day of Hanukah when many residents will not be able to attend. The fact that the agency had an entire calendar year to choose from and still decided to set a date during this holiday is inexcusable. This is in addition to the Staten Island hearing being scheduled on the second day of Hanukah and at an early time when most borough residents are still commuting home from work. If the MTA truly wants input from the people who rely on their service, then they should consider finding a meeting time they can actually attend. Most New Yorkers think these hearings are dog and pony shows to begin with, this only adds to our skepticism.”
