Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R,C,I- Brooklyn, Staten Island) will host an informative virtual town hall meeting on Wednesday, May 13 at 7 p.m. with three local physicians to discuss what we currently know about coronavirus, the benefits of antibody testing, telehealth, transmission indoors vs. outdoors, recent developments in treatments and vaccinations and more.
The physicians joining Malliotakis are Dr. John Maese, an internist and geriatrician at Island Internists who also serves as the chairperson of the Disaster Preparedness Committee of the Richmond County Medical Society; Dr. Salvatore Volpe, who has over 25 years of primary care practice experience and is board certified in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Health Care Quality and Management. He is the former president of the Richmond County Medical Society; and Dr. Anne Marie Stilwell a Board-Certified Interventional Pain Management Specialist, who has practiced interventional pain management and anesthesiology for 24 years. Dr. Stilwell also recently volunteered to care for COVID-19 patients at the Javits Center.
During these times, when we cannot gather in person, we are turning to social media and the internet to gather and share information. My goal is to have an open conversation with these respected physicians and the public about the most recent developments surrounding COVID-19, telehealth, potential treatments and vaccines and whatever else the public wants to discuss with these medical professionals, said Malliotakis. Our community always comes together in times of crisis and I thank these physicians for taking the time to answer questions, discuss concerns and give the public a better understanding of this virus and the peace of mind that comes with knowledge.
Those interested can watch the live town hall on Assemblywoman Malliotakiss Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/NMalliotakis/ or on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASUDEa1Iss8. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions as the discussion takes place.
