Malliotakis Applauds De Blasio Joining Effort for Line of Duty Benefits

A Statement from Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R,C,I-Brooklyn, Staten Island)

“Mayor de Blasio today joined our efforts to grant line of duty benefits to those city workers who contracted COVID-19 and died. While other New Yorkers were being told to stay home, these employees showed up and did their job and served their city. They deserve line of duty benefits in support of the families they’ve left behind. Thank you, Joe Borelli for leading the charge and Mayor de Blasio for listening to our concerns and working with us to make this happen. We should reconvene in Albany to pass the necessary legislation ASAP. As the ranking member of the Assembly Committee on Governmental Employees, I implore Speaker Heastie to call the legislature back to Albany to vote on crucial legislation for the future of our workers and our state.”

Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis was among the 19 legislators who cosigned a letter with Councilman Joe Borelli on March 30th advocating for the benefits.
