Assemblymember Phil Steck Presents $30,000 Grant to Nisky NOW to Support Food Assistance for Local Students

Niskayuna, NY Assemblymember Phil Steck today presented a $30,000 New York State grant to Nisky NOW to help support the organization’s mission of providing nutritious food to students and families in the Niskayuna community.

The funding will help Nisky NOW continue its weekly food delivery program, which provides weekend meals and healthy snacks to students who may otherwise face food insecurity outside of school hours.

“At a time when many families are struggling with rising costs, programs like Nisky NOW play an essential role in making sure children have access to the nutritious food they need to learn, grow, and succeed,” said Assemblymember Phil Steck. “This grant will help strengthen an incredible volunteer driven program that is making a real difference for families in our community.”

“We are deeply thankful for Assemblymember Steck’s advocacy and for securing the New York State grant that will support Nisky NOW,” said Nancy Bushee, President of Nisky NOW. “This funding will go a long way toward providing nutritious meals in our weekly food deliveries for the families we serve.

At a time when many families are facing difficult financial decisions, the grant will help ensure that students in our district have access to nutritious weekend food and healthy snacks outside of school.

Our program relies solely on grants and donations and is staffed entirely by volunteers, so we can guarantee the funds from this grant will be used directly to serve our families and community. We appreciate Assemblymember Steck’s dedication to our Niskayuna students and community.”

Jessica Brennan, Founder and Past President of Nisky NOW, also spoke at the event and highlighted the importance of community support in sustaining the organization’s work.

The grant reflects Assemblymember Steck’s continued commitment to supporting community-based organizations that are working to address food insecurity and ensure local families have access to essential resources.
