Assemblymember Steck: State Budget Ensures Local Governments Get Their Fair Share of Funding

“When I speak with local leaders, I often hear different versions of what seems like a universal truth for New York’s town and village governments: the state is making their jobs nearly impossible. Due to un- or underfunded mandates, our local governments are constantly being asked to do more with less.

“Despite the challenges they already face, the governor proposed eliminating $59 million in Aid and Incentives to Municipalities (AIM) – a much-needed source of state funding. To make sure our local governments aren’t left scrambling, I fought to ensure they receive this critical funding – including $640,000 for towns and villages in the 110th Assembly District – to help protect property taxpayers and the services our families rely on.”
