Assemblywoman Kassay Partners with Long Island Cares to Distribute Food to VFW and American Legion Posts across the District
Port Jefferson Station, NY – On Saturday, November 22nd, in preparation for Thanksgiving, Assemblywoman Rebecca Kassay and members of her staff partnered with Long Island Cares to distribute hundreds of turkeys, chickens, hams, and pies to VFW and American Legion Posts across Assembly District 4. The effort aims to show gratitude to veterans and their families during the holiday season, recognizing them for their service to our communities and country.
Following coordination efforts with leadership from each post, the outreach team travelled across District 4 to visit VFW Post 400, VFW Post 4927, American Legion Post 432, and American Legion Post 1776. Each delivery enabled local posts to distribute food directly to veterans and their families.
Regarding the initiative, Assemblywoman Kassay shared, “As we approach Thanksgiving, it’s especially meaningful to stand alongside Long Island cares to express gratitude for the veterans who have given so much to our communities and our country. Delivering these holiday meals is a small but heartfelt way to remind our veterans and their families that they are seen, appreciated, and supported not just during veteran-centric holidays, but all year long. I’m deeply grateful to Justin, Greg, and the entire Long Island Cares team for their generosity and coordination, and to the leaders of our local VFW and American Legion Posts for their dedication to those who have served. It’s an honor and a joy to work together to spread some comfort and care during this holiday season.”
Long Island Cares’s Justin Berbig added, “Long Island Cares is extremely excited to partner with Assemblywoman Rebecca Kassay and her office for Saturday’s turkey distributions. It is an honor to provide holiday meals for our veterans on Long Island!”
VFW Post 4927 James McCann stated, “We appreciate all of the turkeys, hams, and chickens distributed and all of our members were gracious to be able to come down and pick up what we had. Everybody seemed very happy that we received a donation from Long Island Cares and the Assemblywoman.”
VFW Post 400 member Sidney Lynn said, “I thought it was such a nice thing. It was very wonderful to see the Assemblywoman and receive the meals. All the members were thrilled, and it was a very generous thing to do.”
