Assemblymember Carroll Issues Statement on his Appointment as Chair of the New York State Assembly Committee on Libraries & Education Technology

Albany, NY – Assemblymember Robert Carroll (D/WF-Brooklyn) issued the following statement on his appointment to the Chair of the New York State Assembly Committee on Libraries & Education Technology. The Standing Committee on Libraries and Education Technology has jurisdiction over legislation affecting public, academic, school, and special libraries as well as the administration and funding of libraries and library systems across New York State:

“I am proud to assume the Chair of the New York State Assembly Standing Committee on Libraries & Education Technology.Libraries are among our most vital civic institutions and my Brooklyn Assembly District is served by five wonderful Brooklyn Public Library branch libraries and the magnificent Central Library at Grand Army Plaza, the main branch of the BPL system. I am deeply committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure all our libraries continue to thrive and especially excited to work with the library community in strengthening libraries’ role in literacy education for children and adults and championing lifelong learning. I am grateful to Speaker Carl Heastie and the leadership of the Assembly for entrusting me with this important role.”
