Assemblymember Robert Carroll Calls on Federal Aviation Administration, Governor Kathy Hochul, And Mayor Eric Adams to Ground All Non-Essential Helicopter Flights Until There Is a Complete Investigation into Yesterday’s Tragic Helicopter Crash That Killed Six People

Brooklyn, NY –– Assemblymember Robert Carroll (D/WF-Brooklyn) issued the following statement on yesterday’s tragic helicopter crash in New York City:

“We must determine the cause of yesterday’s tragic crash before allowing further sightseeing and commuter-related helicopter flights to continue in New York City’s airspace. New York City is America’s most congested airspace and considering not just this tragic crash but the tragic plane collision in Washington D.C. earlier this year and many other near misses, it is time for the FAA to ensure our skies are safe by strictly regulating and limiting helicopter and other non-essential flights. Non-essential helicopter flights need more stringent safety protocols, and their flight paths need to be strictly regulated."
