In District 68, there are over 20 New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) developments, which house over 36,000 NYCHA tenants. As it stands now, the severely underfunded system is estimated to need $32 billion for capital repairs and upgrades. As a result, living conditions of NYCHA developments have deteriorated, and the Authority continuously fails to guarantee uninterrupted heat and hot water services during the winter months.
As we work to secure additional funding for NYCHA, the Authority is still obligated to provide safe living conditions for all of public housing tenants, and I want to make sure NYCHA is held accountable.
If you are a NYCHA resident experiencing a heat or hot water issue, please make sure to:
- Call NYCHA to report the outage at (718) 707-7771. Make sure to write down your repair ticket number.
- Fill out the following survey to report directly to my office about your service interruption HERE.
- If you are unable to fill out the survey please call or email my office and let us know! My staff and I are here to help.
You can reach my office at (212) 828-3953. I want to make sure I hear from you.
