Assemblyman Smullen Announces ‘Last Call’ for Venison Donation for Veterans and Seniors
Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C,I,SAM–Meco) is asking deer hunters to again consider donating some of this year’s venison to local veterans and seniors who may be struggling with food insecurity. The program is a partnership between local hunters and businesses, fish & game clubs and the government agencies of Fulton and Montgomery counties.
“This time of year is particularly difficult for many, especially our brave veterans and those senior citizens who sometimes lack a strong support system or struggle with food insecurity,” Smullen said. “The Venison for Veterans and Seniors Program is our way of giving back and taking care of our local heroes who protected us in the armed forces. It’s a public-private partnership that benefits so many. I’m asking all our area hunters to consider making a small donation this year. Your generosity and kindness are invaluable and greatly appreciated.”
Donations of unprocessed deer can be taken to Rick Dickinson at 121 Brower Road in Mayfield. Please call the phone number to make an appointment at (518) 866-4880. Processed and packaged venison may be dropped off at Kingsboro Lumber Company during their normal business hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
