Smullen: State of The State Address Does Not Resonate with Upstate New Yorkers
A Statement from Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks) in response to Gov. Hochul’s State of the State Address on Jan. 14, 2025.

“Upstate New Yorkers are tired of hearing the same empty promises. They are tired of seeing flawed policy decisions made behind their backs. And they are tired of feeling the sting of out-of-touch ‘solutions’ to existing issues in the rural areas of the state enforced without any input from their communities.
“To promote rural equity statewide and ensure families, students, teachers, first responders and businesses in Upstate New York are properly supported, they need a strong voice in Albany. This year’s State of the State speech did little to address the concerns of rural New York — I am determined to speak up for our communities in the 118th Assembly District and have the backs of hard-working families who rely on their state representatives to act in their best interest.”
