Assemblymember Shrestha, Ulster County Executive Metzger, and Allies Will Rally to Call for a Special Session in Albany in Response to the Federal Cuts
Kingston, NY – Earlier this month, the Trump administration enacted a $1.1 trillion cut to healthcare and raised the national debt by $3 trillion – all so that a $4.5 trillion tax cut that disproportionately benefits the wealthy can be funded. Left unaddressed, these cuts will devastate our healthcare system: hospitals will close, healthcare workers will lose their jobs, and healthcare costs will rise for all of us! They'll also inundate our localities with increased work and spending, and exacerbate the state's affordability crisis.
However, New York State has both the power and the wealth to fill these cuts. As such, Assemblymember Sarahana Shrestha, Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger, and allies will rally in Kingston to call for a special session in Albany to TAX THE RICH & FILL THE CUTS, and also use the opportunity to pass state legislation to counter the Trump administration's unprecedented funding of ICE.
Due to severe weather conditions, today’s rally in Kingston has been rescheduled.
The rally will take place on Saturday, August 2nd, at 11:00 AM at 21 Front Street, Kingston.
