Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein Partners with BPJCC to Distribute Free Car Seats in Boro Park
Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, together with the Boro Park Jewish Community Council, partnered to offer eligible Boro Park parents free car seats. The distribution, funded by the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee, took place on Sunday, November 6. It helped parents eager to keep their children safe while riding in vehicles by providing them with brand-new car seats for children up to 65 pounds.
Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein was on hand to assist with the distribution along with DMV Deputy Commissioner Owen McShane, Avi Greenstein, BPJCC CEO, and BPJCC staff. Shomrim volunteers assisted as well in a very significant way that went well beyond the usual crowd control and event coordination.
Another significant player in the success of the distribution was Community Board 12 Chairman Yidel Perlstein, proprietor of Lucky Truck Rental, who made a truck available for storage and distribution.
"The safety of our youngest New Yorkers should be our top priority," said Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein. "That's why I'm delighted to collaborate with the Boro Park Jewish Community Council to distribute these FREE car seats for those who are eligible."
“The BPJCC is pleased to offer this initiative which will help save lives,” Avi Greenstein, BPJCC CEO shared with Boro Park 24. “Not only are we providing free car seats to qualified Boro Parkers, but we also provided fundamental training in car seat installation and safety as a prerequisite to receiving the brand-new car seat today.”
“Children are generally the most vulnerable passengers in motor vehicles, yet so many are not in the correct seat for their size, so we are proud to sponsor child safety seat events like this throughout the state,” said Mark J.F. Schroeder, Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles and Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee Chair. “Parents and caregivers should not have to worry about safely transporting their children. Our hope is that through events like this, we will give them greater peace of mind and help to keep the youngest New Yorkers safe on the roads.”
“We are so grateful to Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein and the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee for partnering with us in making today’s event possible,” says Greenstein. “We look forward to increasing our ability in helping even more Boro Park residents to receive free car seats. To join our waiting list, go to the Boro Park Jewish Community Council web site. We will reach out when the next round becomes available.”
