Donald Trump’s Justice Department is hunting down children's medical records, birthdates, home addresses, and Social Security Numbers. Donald Trump demands this information from children seeking gender affirming care, even including information from before hormone therapy, puberty blockers, and gender transition surgeries had been banned anywhere in the United States.

This is horrific government overreach. This is fascism.

The Trump Administration is instilling fear in families across the country. Since the subpoenas went out in June, over a dozen hospitals across the country have scaled back or even ended gender transition programs for patients under the age of 19.

Donald Trump is controlling the bodily autonomy of American children. He is dismantling their support systems and their access to life-saving medical care. He is demonizing medical professionals and practices. And he is suppressing dissent and scientific consensus. By launching this attack on the transgender community, Donald Trump is assaulting the human rights of some of our most vulnerable.

This is why we must pass legislation A6596A proposed by Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal that would require Medicaid to cover gender-affirming care regardless of federal funding, and requires that treatment for gender dysphoria be covered by insurance. I will never stop fighting to protect vulnerable communities from the Trump Administration’s relentless attacks.
