On Wednesday, April 24, Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C-Pulaski) attended a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Sterling Nature Center Resiliency Education Building. This transformative initiative will benefit countless residents and businesses along the Lake Ontario shoreline.

The project’s focal point is the revitalization of the International Pier, now fashioned into a pedestrian-friendly park, which was incorporated into the city’s walking trail system and now offers a vivid and accessible waterfront for locals and visitors. Its redesigned layout maximizes space to better serve boaters and encourages visitors to enjoy the waterfront.

The construction and renovations were funded with $3.1 million through the state’s Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative (REDI). With its potential for economic growth and development, the upgraded facilities stand as a testament to the region’s resilience and determination. These essential updates mark a significant milestone for the community and all who worked hard to make these improvements a reality.
