Statement from Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay
“The Trump Administration’s decision to halt congestion pricing is a win for New Yorkers and motorists already burdened by the high cost of living. Back in June, the governor shut down the program herself, claiming she was ‘standing up for the hard-working men and women who get up every single day, do their jobs and just want a fair shake.’ Those proved to be empty words.
The “fair shake” the governor delivered lasted six months and ended up in the form of a $9 commuter tax on New Yorkers trying to get to their jobs or go about their daily lives. Congestion pricing poured gasoline on an already raging affordability crisis. I am thankful President Trump stepped in to put a halt to this awful plan. Anyone who truly cares about affordability should be celebrating. New Yorkers deserve solutions that ease their struggles, not add to them.”
