Barclay Pleased By Action On Synthetic Marijuana
The urgency of addressing the synthetic drug problem has once again been highlighted today with the press conference held by U.S. Senator Charles Schumer. Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I-Pulaski), who has introduced, in the New York State Assembly, legislation calling for the ban of synthetic drugs, welcomes the added discussion on the issue.
“I’m pleased to see our federal representatives talk about the dangers of synthetic drugs like Happy Shaman, K2 and Spice,” said Barclay. “Many individuals may not know about these products, and it is important that all New Yorkers, parents especially, be made aware of the dangers of the substances and how easy it is to obtain.
“I have received correspondence from concerned residents across the state that supports banning synthetic drugs. With the amount of attention this issue has been receiving, I hope that this will provide the momentum needed to pass legislation, “said Barclay. “Whether this occurs at the federal or state level, the main focus for me is to get these dangerous products off the shelves.”
