Barclay Joins Canal Corporation On Inspection Of Area Locks, Canal
Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I-Pulaski) recently joined several officials from the New York State Canal Corporation and the Camillus Erie Canal Park in their inspection of the area’s portion of the Erie Canal and its locks. The Canal Corporation performs these inspections by water annually, affording it the opportunity to examine the entire canal, its channel and embankments as well as connect with communities, elected officials, community leaders and other stakeholders across the state. Barclay was pleased to meet with the officials and join in this inspection of the canal, which has long been a major source of revenue and activity for Central New York
“The Erie Canal has historically been a key force in our state’s economy,” said Barclay. “I enjoyed meeting with officials from the Canal Corporation in their inspection of our area’s portion of the canal, ensuring its structures and locks are up to par and can meet the needs of the many boats and businesses that utilize it each year.”
