Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I--Pulaski) recently honored Mexico Academy and Central High School Varsity Wrestling Coach William Kays and Mexico Academy junior Trevor Allard with Assembly resolutions. Kays was recently named Coach of the Year by the Friends of Section 3 Wrestling Committee. On June 2, the New York State Assembly recognized and honored Coach Kays and his dedication to the sport. Kays has been the coach for 26 years. This year, the team had a record of 13-2. Helping the team achieve that record was Trevor Allard. Barclay also presented Allard with an Assembly resolution. Allard captured the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Division II 160-pound wrestling championship this year for Mexico. Pictured, from the left, are Allard, Barclay and Kays.
