Barclay Calls for Assembly to Pass Legislation to Help Flood Victims
Today, Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I,Ref-Pulaski) called for the swift passage of legislation to assist those facing property damage incurred as a result of flooding on Lake Ontario. Property owners along the southern and eastern shores of the lake have faced record- high lake levels, resulting in enormous amounts of property damage. Barclay cosponsors legislation that would make $105 million in assistance available to help property owners pay for extensive repairs. He is also sponsoring a bill that would provide tax relief to property owners who have experienced major damage to their property.
“In the final week of session, I’m urging state legislators to pass measures that would help the residents on Lake Ontario,” said Barclay. “Property owners are devastated by the amount of damage caused by these record-high lake levels, and they need any assistance that the state can provide. With the passage of bills to provide funding and tax relief to these residents, we will ease the financial burden our lakeshore communities are experiencing and begin to rebuild these beautiful neighborhoods.”
