Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I,Ref—Pulaski) released the following statement today after he was appointed to a panel that will assist in selecting the next Attorney General. Pursuant to the State Constitution, the vacancy must be filled by the State Legislature. The panel will accept and review resumes and make recommendations to the Legislature.

“In light of the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the sudden resignation of former Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, one thing I have pushed for is an open process to appoint our next Attorney General. I am happy to be appointed to the panel and hope this will be a good experience that includes an open process.”
