Farm Bureau Names Barclay to its Circle of Friends

Representatives from the Oswego County and Jefferson County Farm Bureaus met with Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I,Ref—Pulaski) this week to present him with the New York Farm Bureau’s Circle of Friends award.  The award is given to lawmakers who support legislation and policies that assist farmers.

“Agriculture plays an essential role in our economy.  The industry generates about $5 billion in revenue and contributes nearly $2.4 billion to the State’s gross domestic product.  Our local farmers produce award-winning produce—from fruits and vegetables, to cheese, to maple syrup and wines.  I am honored to receive this award and will continue to advocate for our local farmers in Albany.  We have a lot to be proud of thanks to our local farms.”

On March 4, the State Assembly passed a resolution proclaiming March as Agriculture Month.  The resolution discusses the importance of agriculture’s contributions. Barclay co-sponsored the resolution.  The full resolution can be read at https://bit.ly/2EAejWp.Â
