Barclay Applauds Supreme Court Decision To Uphold Zero Emission Credits In NYS
A statement from Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I-Ref-Pulaski) in reaction to the United States Supreme Court rejection of an appeal challenging the legality of Zero Emission Credits in New York state.
This week, the United States Supreme Court declined to hear a case challenging the legality of New Yorks Zero Emission Credits under the Clean Energy Standard. The Zero Emission Credit is good public policy and appropriately values nuclear power for its baseload carbon-free electricity. This is a major win for New York and for our Upstate communities particularly here in Oswego County which is home to three nuclear power plants.
The ZECs program inclusion in the Clean Energy Standard was the result of our grassroots efforts and a multitude of people who understand the value of having nuclear energy both in our community and as part of our states energy portfolio. The Supreme Courts decision to not hear this case favorably brings this issue to a close.
