Barclay Applauds U.S. IJC Chair’s Intention to Move Away from Plan 2014

Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I,Ref-Pulaski) issued the following statement after news that new U.S. representatives on the International Joint Commission (IJC) wish to reconsider Plan 2014.

“I was happy to learn today that the new representatives on the IJC wish to suspend Plan 2014. With catastrophic flooding taking place in 2 out of the 3 years that the plan has been in place, something needs to be done. While there are still many hurdles to overcome to change the plan, I am glad to hear that U.S. representatives wish to reconsider the water management plan and increase outflows.

“I was also glad to learn Jane Corwin, the new American chair of the IJC board, has already visited the White House to discuss the disastrous flooding on Lake Ontario in order to keep federal representatives abreast of this man-made catastrophe.”
