Assemblyman Colton Condemns the Owner of the 137 Kings Highway Proposed Homeless Shelter Location for Neglecting Their Property and Endangering Community Health
Assemblyman William Colton (D – Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, and Dyker Heights) is saying that 137 Kings Highway the proposed homeless shelter location is in horrible condition and has dangerous health issues for the community.
“My office has received very serious claims about the 137 Kings Highway vacant land including huge rats running on the premises. I went physically to check the condition at 137 Kings Highway and found that garbage has been disposed of onto the property which is attracting rodents and creating a big health issue for the neighborhood. The yard is full of debris. The fence condition has large screws and ragged wood sticking out which endangers children, seniors, and any individuals passing by,” Colton stated.
“My office immediately contacted the NYC Department of Sanitation, NYC Department of Buildings, and NYC Health Department demanding to immediately rectify the problem, since it creates a serious health hazard in the community,” Colton added.
