Assemblyman Colton Honored by Met Council
The Met Council, the largest Jewish non-profit organization in the United States whose goal is to fight poverty, has honored Assemblyman William Colton (D—Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Dyker Heights) with its Community Leadership Award.
Assemblyman Colton received the award from Met Council CEO David Greenfield on Sunday, May 18, at the organization’s pre-Israel Parade breakfast at Cipriani on 42nd Street in Manhattan.
“I am extremely honored to be recognized by this prestigious organization, which does so much good for so many people across the city and the tri-state area,” said Assemblyman Colton. “The Met Council has helped so many people in my district and beyond through its food pantries and its extensive social services network, and I am delighted that we have had a close working relationship for many years. I look forward to working with them for many years to come to bring services to those in need.”
According to its website, the Met Council serves approximately 325,000 people annually through its food pantry network, and its range of social services, including crisis intervention, affordable housing, senior services, benefits access and Holocaust survivor assistance.
