Assemblyman Colton Sponsors Food Distribution

On Tuesday, February 20, Assemblyman William Colton (D—Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Dyker Heights) sponsored a successful food distribution at Shore Haven Residences in Bath Beach.

“I was delighted to be on hand to help give out a wide variety of foodstuffs to families in need,” said Assemblyman Colton. “It was a wonderful occasion, and I was glad to have the opportunity to assist local residents who are being financially squeezed in this critical way.”

Some sixty boxes of food, including a vast selection of produce, as well as eggs, bread and flour, plus PPE, were given out to approximately 400 people during the event, which lasted about two hours.

The donations were collected by non-profit organization UA-3, which started a food pantry during the Covid pandemic to address issues of food insecurity, and which partners with government entities, other community groups and private businesses on a wide range of issues.

The giveaway was done in conjunction with the management of Shore Haven, led by Harry Deutsch.
