Assemblyman Colton Alerts the Community about an Application for a Drug Abuse Clinic

Assemblyman William Colton (D – Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, and Dyker Heights) alerts the community that on March 14, 2019 at the Community Board 11 Meeting, it was announced that CB11 had received notice that a group filed an Article 28 application for a drug treatment medical clinic at 1751 Bath Avenue in Brooklyn.

“There is little information about whether this will include only drug counseling or whether there will be drugs distributed as part of the program. In the vicinity of this location are PS 163, PS 748, PS 200, several after-school dance and music schools, churches, mosques and synagogues, among other community facilities. I am calling on all local elected officials to work together to inform the community about what is being proposed at this site and what impact it will have on the neighborhood and its families,” Colton said.

“Community Board 11 has requested the applicant to make a presentation of their proposal on the April 11, 2019 meeting which is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. to be held at St. Finbar Community Center at 1839 Bath Avenue. We cannot allow any such facilities to be placed in our neighborhood without full information about what they are planning. All elected officials and community groups should work together in insuring this information will be provided and that the input of the community and its leaders will be heard,” Colton stated.

In conjunction with Community Board 11, community leaders and other local elected officials I will continue to alert the community and I will do everything that is possible to protect our neighborhood and its quality of life,” Colton went on.
